. . . a subtle foe

"It is easy to let up on the spiritual program of action and rest on our laurels. We are headed for trouble if we do, for alcohol is a subtle foe."

Office News

April's Featured Literature: Grapevine's "Step By Step: Real AA's, Real Recovery. " This book shows how AA members of all ages, from all lifestyles and from around the word, followers of mainstream religions and atheists, newcomers and old-timers, have recovered and found a new way of life by working the Twelve Steps. Here is a variety of experiences that AA's have written about the Steps. This book, as well as many others, are available at the office.

Need literature or medallions? - Your Intergroup office offers a better price and you will be helping support local A.A. Services. You can call in your order and we'll have it ready for you: 410-272-4150. The office hours are posted on the website on the Contact Us Page. To enter the office please wear face covering, and respect social distancing. Stop in the office to see some new titles from A.A.W.S., Grapevine and Hazelden. These are great A.A. anniversary gifts.

Contributions are also gladly accepted by check in the mail, cash or check in person during office hours at NEMDAA Intergroup at 28 Centennial Lane, Aberdeen, MD 21001.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

from the Chair . . .

A quick reminder to all fellowship members, our Council meeting is this Tuesday, April 27th at 7pm via Zoom. Detailed meeting information can be found on the Events Page. Carol S., our Secretary, has graciously agreed to chair this meeting.

Service commitments are seen as the first step toward healing our conscience and the more selfless we become, the more our self-esteem is restored. Strength in performing formal service commitments, that we used to shy away from, allows our souls to heal. Please consider standing for a District 11 officer position, other council committee position, or simply helping a current committee chair.

I look forward to continuing serving each and every member, carrying the message.

Rex, Love in Service

Tuesday, April 27th at 6:30 PM - Grapevine Committee Meeting held on the 4th Tuesday of each month.  See Events Page.

The New Box 4-5-9 is out! This is the quarterly newsletter from the General Service Office. This month’s topics include the Virtual 26th World Service Meeting and other updates. Use this link box 459 Spring 2021.

Institutions Committee

Heed the Call! The Institution Committee needs support. The Intergroup Council is asking for an A.A. Member to stand for the position of Institutions Chair.

The purpose of the Institution Committee comes from that basic AA principle - we give it away to keep it. A.A. members have the opportunity to go into institutions and share their experience, strength, and hope.

The Institution Committee makes these crucial meetings possible between the institutionalized alcoholic and the A.A. member. To do this, the committee: Schedules A.A. Groups to go to the institution, coordinates with the institution for the meetings and for orientation, supplies the institution with literature, finds sponsors for some of the institutions, and works with Bridging the Gap.

If you are interested in being of service and learning how you can help, please contact Rex P., Intergroup Chair, at office@nemdaa.org or at rex@nemdaa.org.

Final Thought:

"What we really have is a daily reprieve contingent on the maintenance of our spiritual condition. Every day is a day when we must carry the vision of God's will in all our activities. ' How can I best serve Thee- Thy will (not mine) be done.' "
