. . . what the trouble is

"We have admitted certain defects; we have ascertained in a rough way what the trouble is; we have put our finger on the weak items in our personal inventory. Now these are about to be cast out. . . We must be entirely honest with somebody if we expect to live long or happily in this world."

Alcoholics Anonymous, p. 72, 73-74

Office News

Featured Literature: Grapevine's "HAPPY, JOYOUS & FREE: The Lighter Side of Sobriety" Getting sober can be painful and amazing but it also can be pretty darn amusing. This collection of stories from Grapevine shows how, in recovery, AAs have learned to laugh. It's full of light and humorous stories about our early mistakes, navigating drinking events, funny things sponsors say, interesting Twelfth-Step calls, holiday adventures and more. They remind us to not take ourselves so seriously and to always strive to be 'happy, joyous & free'. This book, as well as many others, are available at the office.

Need literature or medallions? - Your Intergroup office offers a better price and you will be helping support local A.A. Services. You can call in your order and we'll have it ready for you: 410-272-4150. The office hours are posted on the website on the Contact Us Page. To enter the office please wear face covering, and respect social distancing. Stop in the office to see some new titles from A.A.W.S., Grapevine and Hazelden. These are great A.A. anniversary gifts.

Thank you to all the groups and individuals who continue to support the Intergroup through contributions and service. Special Thanks go to All for celebrating their Anniversaries with a Birthday Plan Contribution. A PayPal account is set up for contributions and is accessible on the Contribute page. Contributions are also gladly accepted by check in the mail, cash or check in person during office hours at NEMDAA Intergroup at 28 Centennial Lane, Aberdeen, MD 21001.

Service

For Starting New Groups or Changing Information for Existing Groups and Meetings: Here's some helpful information from the May 2021 Meeting of Maryland Intergroups.

Jeanine W., Area 29 Registrar, explained how the General Service Office (G.S.O.) and Intergroups can cooperate with each other. As two separate entities, we cannot exchange information, therefore it is important to communicate that to the new groups. Jeanine gave us a glimpse inside Fellowship Connection (formerly FNV) and data that G.S.O. uses (and doesn’t use). Here's some important highlights and links to new group or group change forms:

• When a group registers with Intergroup, also suggest that they register with GSO.

• For New Groups in Area 29: New Group Form

• For Group Changes: Group Change Form

• When I register a new group or make a group change (such as location), I send an email to the contact suggesting they inform their Intergroup. I provide a link to the appropriate Intergroup.

• Groups at the GSO level are considered “inactive” if they have no physical address and email address.

• Meetings in the Meeting Guide App are not collected from GSO. They are usually populated through a plug-in via the Intergroup webmaster.

For questions or assistance, feel free to contact Registrar@marylandaa.org or call the Intergroup office at 410-272-4150 or email office@nemdaa.org

Final Thought:

"We pocket our pride and go to it, illuminating every twist of character, every dark cranny of the past. Once we have taken this step, withholding nothing, we are delighted. We can look the world in the eye. We can be alone at perfect peace and ease. "
