The Only Requirement...

"To join A.A., all we had to do was decide we wanted to be members. No dues to pay. All we need is a desire to stop drinking. Membership is a choice only we can make, and we are members the moment we say we are."

Final Thought:

"At all meetings, and in contacts with A.A. members, most people will probably be impressed by the frequency of laughter and the general atmosphere of good humor and warm fellowship. This is typical of A.A. Generally, members take their alcoholism - but not themselves - seriously. Part of the recovery process is laughing over the experiences that once brought tears."
