NEW OFFICE HOURS: Starting August 1st, the Office will be open Tuesday-Friday from 10AM - 3PM and on the 1st Saturday of the month from 10AM - 2PM. If these reduced hours do not fit your group's needs, please email office@nemdaa.org to make an appointment.

The Office will be OPEN LATE on Aug 2nd & Aug 16th from 5:45-6:45PM. Come for group needs, stay for the Luau Planning meeting; all are welcome!

GROUP NEWS

The Back to Basics meeting is back live. After three weeks online while our meeting space was closed due to water damage, Grove Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen is open for business. Thanks to the church for welcoming us back. Please join us Thursdays at 7:00 PM as we share our experience, strength, and hope.

CLOSED Meeting: The Friday Evening Big Book study meeting in North East at 6:00 PM is permanently closed effective immediately.

New Meeting: Starting July 28th at 6:30 PM the Into Action Big Book Study group will be meeting at the St. Francis de Sales Residence (old) at 1120 Blue Ball Rd. in Elkton.

Effective August 1st North East Friday Night Group will meet at the Bethel Lutheran Church at 24 Cameron Rd., North East (behind the carwash and McDonald's on Rt. 40). This is a permanent change.

Effective August 6th North East Big Book Group will be permanently meeting at its new location: Bethel Lutheran Church at 24 Cameron Rd., North East (behind the carwash and McDonald's on Rt. 40).

August 7th Came to Believe will NOT be meeting Thursday at 7:30pm due to church activities.

August 7th The Epic Big Book Meeting will NOT meet due to church activities.

Recovering Spirit Group is selling tickets for a Sober Sunset Cruise from Chesapeake City on September 13th at 6:15pm. RSVP by 8 September via Flyer.

Institutions Committee

Cecil County Detention Center (CCDC) Volunteers: Mark your calendars for updated orientation dates! REFRESHER Orientation for existing volunteers will now be held August 13th at 11am. NEW VOLUNTEER orientation will be held on August 14th at 11am. Please let Kyle know at least one day in advance if you plan to attend by sending your name and phone number to kyle@nemdaa.org.

From the Institutions Chair:
Institutions has had a huge uptick in literature requests and has exhausted its small budget. Please consider creating a Spare Change Can for your meeting or by making an online contribution. The funds will be used to purchase Conference approved literature and make it freely available to those in need.

From the Archive … Bill W. and Bob S. made an important discovery in 1937. They compared notes and were surprised that between New York and Akron they could count 40 alcoholics who had stayed sober since 1935! This confirmed that the solution and the program of action could be reliably shared—one alcoholic to another. It was then that a book, as well as two other projects, were discussed. Do you know what the other two projects were?
