NEMDAA 50th - From the Archives - A Marylander (Baltimore) who contributed significantly to sustaining the fledgling AA and the writing of Big Book was not an alcoholic. Rev. Sam Shoemaker (1893-1963), an Episcopal priest, helped Bill W. in his early recovery and helped Bill organize his thoughts on our 12-step program of recovery.
