Special Guest in May:  Area 29 Registrar, Jeanine W. will visit and explain how GSO and Intergroups can cooperate with each other. As two separate entities, we cannot exchange information, but she always suggests to new groups or group changes that they contact their local intergroup with their changes. In turn, we ask that Intergroups who receive new groups or group changes also be directed to the Area 29 Registrar for updates. Jeanine will also bring us up to speed on the new Fellowship Connection and data that GSO uses from it. Start collecting your experience and questions to share on this important subject.  After that, we want to hear from you.

Minutes for Intergroup:  Moving forward, after groups check in with each other, can I ask that you email me your notes so that I can speed up the turnaround and accuracy of the minutes.  Or if it is easier, you can send me your notes in advance, especially if you cannot be with us.

APRIL:   Special Guests:  Jen G. from the Baltimore Intergroup will follow-up on the ICOAA invitation and the meeting we discussed last month.  Also, Linda J., Area 29 Policy & Procedures Chair, will visit to talk about their Committee collecting information on “what’s working AND what’s not working” for our virtual meetings.  This will still leave us with time to catch up with you and your latest challenges and successes.  On deck in May we will hear from Area 29 Registrar, Jeanine W. so plan to bring all your group and registration questions in May!

March Documents:

Hello again – Our next meeting for the Intergroup Liaison Committee is on March 1st at 6:30 p.m. via Zoom. We’ll start a new series of allowing everyone to introduce and let us know what is happening in your Intergroup areas, and then we’ll move on to hear Alternate Delegate Kurt W. explain the CARC season which is now underway.  CARC is the acronym for Conference Agenda Review Committee and this is Area 29’s annual process for reviewing the Conference agenda items to help our Delegate prepare for the General Service Conference.

Just some quick reminders and information about the Conference Agenda Review Committees and where/when they will meet.  Respective flyers are attached.  If it is possible to include your respective flyer in your newsletter, that would be appreciated. Maryland General Service will cover any costs associated with posting these to your websites and including them in your newsletters, if any. If you don’t presently have a newsletter, please print them and distribute them at your next Intergroup meeting.

February Topics:  Public Information and Cooperation with the Professional Community, Planning of Statewide Intergroup Workshop, and Contribution Links on Websites.

Public Information and Cooperation with Professional Community: Area 29 Chairperson, Lori M., and PI/CPC Chair, Pat S. will visit to explain a new opportunity for service within the professional community; she is developing a quarterly plan that will require several volunteers toward our effort to bring awareness and outreach to the professional community about what AA is beyond the literature.  Please invite your PI and CPC committees to join.  Come prepared to exchange phone numbers and a time to convene and collaborate.

Statewide Intergroup Workshop:  We will take some time to explore this option, even if we start planning it now for the summer or the fall. Since most workshops we see are Area-service oriented, this might be useful and different. Some Intergroups struggle with participation at their meetings and getting home groups to assign a representative.  Some workshop suggestions: (1) Job Fair, (2) What does an Intergroup Do and How Do We Serve?; or we can (3) enlist other Intergroups to join the effort for a large scale Intergroup function, or (4) stay within Maryland on the topic of Group reps in conjunction with a district reps (GSR) or (5) have a workshop for Intergroup Representatives only.  This is a wide open canvas right now and the group conscience will decide.

Contributions Link on Website: MGS Treasurer Terry P. will be joining us tonight to talk about the requirements for installing a website contributions link. Most of you have this feature, but I know at least 3 Intergroups who do not, so I hope this will connect you with the resources to link up.  Pretty sure all you need is a bank account and a webmaster.

January 4, 2020 – IGLC meeting on the topic of Newsletters
We know most Intergroups have a monthly, some even have a weekly newsletter, but we know that some do not.  We invited three speakers to come share on this topic and then we’ll open up for round robin participation.  Each speaker will share for 5-10 minutes about format, software, topics, and general pros and cons.  We are hoping to learn how to get a template started and what is involved in the upkeep.  The following Intergroup (IG) Newsletter folks will lead us off:
Carla H. from OCAA; (Ocean City IG);
Mark D. and Rudy N. from WCI (West Central IG); and
Keith H. from SMIA (Southern Maryland IG).

December 7, 2020 – IGLC meeting with MGS Treatment Chair, Frank M.

Frank will be speaking and is asking for feedback on the following questions/inquiry from the GSO.  We ask that you review these questions with your groups and members, and plan to share your responses on December 7th with Frank.  GSO has asked for this information by 12/15 so Frank will only have one week after our meeting to summarize and convey our responses back to GSO. Please pass this on to your Bridging the Gap committees.

We are back in the saddle with our guest speaker, Area 29 Delegate Cynthia T.  Cynthia will share a short presentation on the Financial addendum to the General Service Conference Report (attached). This meeting will also have Spanish translation; please pass this information on to the fellowship. Cynthia’s monthly Delegate Report is also attached.  You can find these at https://www.marylandaa.org/area-delegate.  Our General Service Office recently offered and 22 employees accepted early retirement this month.  Consequently we have lost an accumulation of 531 years of institutional knowledge at the General Service Office. Please check out the delegate report and bring your questions for Cynthia.
