Atheist, agnostic, or skeptic?

"If you think you are an atheist, an agnostic, a skeptic, or have any other form of intellectual pride which keeps you from accepting what is in this book, I feel sorry for you. If you still think you are strong enough to beat the game alone, that is your affair." (from Dr. Bob's Nightmare)

Service

from the Chair . . .

I have been attending the A.A. Service Manual workshop, a series of meetings breaking down each chapter of the manual. My higher power seems to place what I need, when I need it, when I pray fully. Concept 9, Leadership in A.A. Ever a Vital Need, states that “Our leaders do not lead by mandate they lead by example.”

The A.A. Service Manual also speaks of A.A.’s Three Legacies; Recovery, Unity, Service. The Legacy of Service, our Twelfth Step – carrying the message – is the basic service that the A.A. Fellowship gives; this is our principal aim and the main reason for our existence. We are a society of alcoholics in action.

Concept 9 (Leadership) and our Three Legacies (Service) apply to all of us, but I would like to appeal to our District 11 (Cecil County) members, in particular. Currently, the District 11 Committee, comprised of the positions of Secretary, Treasurer, District Committee Member (DCM) and Alt-DCM, are completely vacant, no one standing for any of these positions.

Request that all “long-timers”, Sponsors, members, and others, within our Fellowship nominate people to Serve on the District 11 Committee. These are excellent service opportunities, for Sponsees and others, to represent a common voice of the Cecil County groups to Area 29. The “Whole” is always stronger than the parts.

Thank you for your continued support.

Rex, Love in Service

Final Thought:

"But if you really and truly want to quit drinking liquor for good and all . . . we have an answer for you. It never fails, if you go about it with one half the zeal you have been in the habit of showing when you were getting another drink."
