A Second Chance

"Booze wasn't something we liked to talk about - it was something we liked to drink. We drank top shelf, bottom shelf, and everything in between. A lot of us didn't even know we had a problem with booze until it was too late. Alcoholics Anonymous gave us a second chance."

Service

From the NEMDAA Archives Committee: Ed B. from New Life Group (Elkton, Sundays, 6PM) donated a copy of an interesting book to our archive: A Visual History of Alcoholics Anonymous: An archival journey, published by A.A. World Services in 2021. It is based on a scrap book edited by Jim B., who started the first group in Philly and shared his story in "Vicious Cycle," page 219 in Alcoholics Anonymous (Big Book). Thanks, Ed. The Archive is always looking for interesting items that help us piece together the history of AA, especially in Harford and Cecil Counties. You can send them to us at archives@nemdaa.org.

Final Thought:

"The beauty of sober sleep, once it's achieved, is the sheer pleasure of waking up - no real hangover, no worries about what may have happened in last night's blackout. Instead, it means facing the new day refreshed, hopeful, and grateful."
