Happy New Year and Greetings from the Area 29 Accessibilities Committee! We have scheduled our first Area 29 Panel 72 meeting for Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 4 p.m. Spanish Translation will be provided! With permission, we will be using the Maryland General Service virtual account, with the following login and password.

 

 

If you or anyone you know is interested in Accessibilities Committee work, we have so many opportunities available. If you have an Accessibility Committee or interest in a remote community, if you know a member with physical disabilities, someone who needs Spanish interpretation, military, deaf or hard of hearing, blind or limited vision, underserved in communities including LGBTQ, transgender, and BIPOC to name a few, the list continues to unfold. We will need help identifying and finding resources for these and many other needs.  Please bring this to your members and let them know we are ramping up and we need all hands on deck!  If you would like to be removed from this email distribution list, please also let me know.  Lastly, please start with the attached Accessibilities Checklist and ask your groups to review their meeting places for overall accessibility of your meeting spaces.  More on this later.

Please also mark your calendars for ACCESSIBILITY as follows:

1. We will start a collective review of the Accessibilities Workbook from the AA.org website beginning Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 6:30 p.m. The flyer and the workbook PDF are attached. We have extended this invitation to the All-Accessibilities Committee to join us and have also submitted this flyer to the Accessibilities Desk at the General Service Office. If we could ask for a volunteer Spanish interpreter, that would be a temporary solution but one that would get us started so that interpretation may be offered.
2. The next All-Accessibilities Committee (nationwide) meeting is this coming Monday January 10^th (the 2nd Monday of the month) from 7-8:30 pm EDT. ID 690-393-7306 … Pw: AAC2020. This is a great resource to help get acclimated to the needs that exist in the many remote and special interest communities and/or are underserved. We are working on providing Spanish Translation for this in the future.
